Welcome to Dowaki Lab!
The Laboratory is one of Japan’s leading research groups on biomass gasification. First established in April, 2006, our research group studies environmental friendly energy systems from the viewpoints of analytical systems engineering. Led by Prof. Kiyoshi Dowaki as our laboratory head, we focus on the biomass gasification process of Blue Tower. Besides, additional advanced technologies and their systems derivations are considered in order to realize them in both domestic areas and/or foreign countries. For our purpose, we execute basic chemical experiments through laboratory activities and computational process simulator (AspenTech, etc.) by applying environmental analyses based on LCA methodologies, economic analyses, and estimate optimized systems based on practical constraints (GAMS). In addition, we implement questionnaires for users in order to ensure a more practically functioning system with fitted technological appropriateness by estimating customer behaviors. These studies would contribute to the creation of sustainable business models. Then, we have also been establishing collaborations with companies, public groups, and/or foreign organizations, to promote our proposed systems.
Research
Our research agenda is built around the three general research interests of this laboratory (energy science, environmental engineering, and social systems modeling) in collaboration with industrial partners and international counterparts.
Teaching
The laboratory holds classes for both undergraduate and graduate levels at the Department of Industrial Administration, Tokyo University of Science. Topics included are energy science, environmental engineering, and social systems modeling.
